Being a handmade crafter, I love nothing more than receiving handmade items especially for Mother’s Day. Using your children’s Fingerprint, Handprint and Footprint is an easy way of making a card or gift extra special and personal.
I’m obsessed with pinterest and am steadily building my boards of interest. I have a Mother’s Day board filled with fun ways of making cards and gifts for Mother’s Day involving the children.
Handprints are easy to print onto paper, cut out and stick on a piece of card with a special message, if you’re feeling more artistic, you could make your children’s handprints into a bouquet like this one here or you could make it look like a bunch of flowers in a pot like this. Personalise it by adding messages from your children on the back of the handprints.
You could also use your children’s fingerprints to make a flower picture, just print your child’s fingerprints using different coloured paints to make the petals of a flower. If Nan or Mum love real plants, why not buy a terracotta pot and make a thumbprint flower motif to decorate the front of the plant pot, this would be something they could use again and again.
Do you have a Mum that has a passion for bags?! Well maybe she would like a shopper bag she can proudly carry around with her grandchildren’s handprints on them.
If you print two fingerprints together to form a heart they can be printed on all manner of things from plates using these special ceramic paints or a heart family tree or why not do a bit of baking and make these cute heart salt dough ornaments that can be hung or turned into magnets.
A footprint is always easier to capture if you have a baby or child under 2. This beautiful picture is one of my favourites! Three sets of footprints captured to make three butterflies that are personalised with the children’s names. This could be framed and kept forever.
Why not make a hanging heart plaque using salt dough, capture your child’s footprint and before you bake the dough, personalise it with a name, date or special message. Once it has been baked and has cooled paint it to add that perfect finishing touch.
If you’re not up to making anything, you could always get something handmade, still capturing your children’s fingerprints, footprints or handprints. We create jewellery and sell gifts that would be perfect for Mother’s Day but don’t leave it too late as it can take 2-3 weeks for your item to be made.
