Heart shape charm-How is it made?

The Heart shape charm is the most popular shape requested from my customers. I myself, love this shape as it represents the heart, love and affection of someone very important to you.

When I’m approached to make a charm, one of the first things a customer requests is the shape of the charm and size. The medium size is the most popular customers choose for a chain as it is big enough to hold two prints, whether it be a handprint or footprint and a name.

Placing an order is easy to do, it can be done on our online shop, or people can send me an email or message me via the True Love Keepsake Facebook Page. Once I have the customer’s requirements I sent out a hand/footprint kit or a fingerprint kit free of charge.

Handprints and footprints come back looking like this cute pair I received from a lovely mother capturing her daughter unique prints.

Once I receive the prints I then transfer it onto a stamp. It takes three stages to do this and a lot of care is taken to capture intricate details of the lines and creases on the hands and feet.

The next stage is to get all my tools ready, including the Heart shape cutter needs to cut the clay into the desired shape. Then the handprint and footprint is captured onto the Fine Silver and is left to dry for 24.

The next stage involves firing the charm to reveal the silver. This is the bit I love the most as it’s the big reveal and it’s as if the charm comes to life.

Finally, the charm is hand-polished using three different types of special sanding papers. This takes a lot of elbow grease and my fingers are normally numb by the end but it’s worthwhile as I enjoy bringing up a high shine on the charm so it can be proudly worn by the happy customer.
